Blod Monath (ou Blótmonađ)
Mois du sacrifice
Les tribus païennes scandinaves et germaniques, y compris les Anglo-saxons, sacrifiaient des animaux (chevaux et cochons) pendant ce temps de l’année.
Le sang était réputé détenir des pouvoirs spéciaux et les statues des divinités, en particulier Freyr, un dieu de la sagesse et de la fécondité, en étaient aspergées.

Blod Monath (or Blótmonađ)
Month of Sacrifice
The Norse and other pagan Germanic tribes, including the Anglo-Saxons, would sacrifice animals (horses and pigs) during this time of year.
Blood was believed to have special powers and was sprinkled on statues of the gods, in particular Freyr, a god of wisdom and fertility.

Le huitième mois de l’année chez les Romains, l’année commençant au mois de mars.
Samhain
Il y avait beaucoup de traditions celtiques pour marquer la fin de l'année (31 octobre), lorsque le voile entre notre monde et le monde des morts, des esprits et des fées est très mince et facilement traversé.
Les Celtes, les Gaulois et les autres tribus anciennes de l'Europe occidentale s’habillaient avec des peaux et des fourrures. Ils espéraient ainsi tromper les esprits qui n’y verraient que d’autres esprits.
Les Celtes laissaient aussi des offrandes de nourriture à leurs portes pour attirer les faveurs de leurs ancêtres et pour décourager les esprits d'entrer dans leurs maisons ou d’endommager les récoltes.

There were many Celtic traditions to mark the end of the year (October 31) when the veil between our world and the world of the dead, the spirits and the fairies is very thin and easily traversed.
The Celts, the Gauls and other ancient Western European tribes donned skins and furs. They hoped that the spirits would confuse them with other spirits and leave them alone.
The Celts also left offerings of food at their doors to garner favours from the spirits and to discourage them from entering their homes or doing damage to the crops.

La lune des moissons, la pleine lune la plus proche de l’équinoxe d’automne, également appelée Mabon par les Wiccans, se produit habituellement en ce mois.

The Harvest Moon, the full Moon closest to the autumn equinox, also called Mabon by Wiccans, usually occurs in this month.
