Juin Junon/Hera
Il y a trois origines possibles pour le nom du mois.
1) Plus probable : Le mois est dédié à Lucius Junius Brutus. C’est un personnage légendaire qui aurait chassé Lucius Tarquinius Superbus (Tarquin le superbe), le dernier roi-tyran de Rome, et instauré la république (509 avant l’ère commune).
2) Junon : Déesse italique de la féminité, la fécondité et du mariage, assimilée à Hera (« Dame » en grec). Sœur et épouse de Jupiter (Zeus).
Symboles animaliers : la vache et le paon.
3) Possiblement dérivé de « junior » (« jeune, jeune homme »), le mois des jeunes hommes, le mois de mai étant dédié aux aînés.

There are three possible origins for the name of the month.
1) Most probable: The month is dedicated to Lucius Junius Brutus. A legendary figure credited with having removed Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the last tyrant-king of Rome, and installing the republic (509 BCE).
2) Juno: Italic goddess and protector of women, fecundity and marriage, associated with Hera (Greek: Lady). Sister and wife of Jupiter (Zeus). Animal symbols include the cow and the peacock.
3) Possibly derived from “junior” (young, young man), the month being dedicated to young men while May is dedicated to seniors.
